I saw this dress that Veronica made for her granddaughter and just had to try one. They are so cute. The tutorial is on Nancy's Notions. I used the pieces cut out for the arms to make a pocket.
What fun to make!!!

I got very enthralled in 2 books written by Denise Giardina. The First was Storming Heaven, and the next was The Unquiet Earth. Both are written about the coal mining towns at the turn of the century and up to 1989. I read these because I was very interested in the Mountaintop Removal Valley Fill coal mining that is being done in the Appalachian Mountains. It is a travesty on our beautiful mountains. Ms. Giardina writes in way that keeps you spellbound. I recommend these to everyone.

The garden is doing well this year. Except for the corn. We had our first bad thunderstorm and half of the corn went over, so we had to go out and put it back up. We have this problem every year, but the corn we get is always worth the hassle. Plus all the wet weather has made the weeds impossible to keep up with. But hey, the plants still grow, lol. We're going to have way more summer squash then we will be able to use.

I finished 2 quilts for kids for the Downy company. They were really fun to do. I quilted them by doing all the seams and diagonals with stitch #4 on my Bernina.

A giant sink hole has appeared on our road. There is a poor little goat trapped in the bottom. Here's a picture from about 1600 feet:

I love my bib overalls, long pants and shorts. But the straps are always so long, and I have fought with them forever. In order for them to keep the pants crotch at the right height, the little metal thingy always ended up almost behind my shoulders where the strap is too fat to lie nicely. So, I cut down the straps, got rid of the metal thingy that slides, and shortened them to the correct length. Then I found these cute buttons to sew on. Now the pants stay at the right height. Yay!!!
