At the very least there will be quilting posts, and of course pics of my dogs, and family.<br />
<br />
To start out, here’s a mystery quilt from Merry Mayhem I did with my sister on NY Day. Love the way it came out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlH1MtEXqWkkBL0Xz5i3eUyta2ya_8UM2dzzAKDLBvZWHncC-CFoG3T17nigKRJz1C4MtBSFwn4NRJa2FBQUzF7gEQbtuYfxU6AbTYunuW_oEwXg0Rn-wz06dMrWoQ4xz__xlTriNwJqvi/s1600/7E694FD2-D896-4337-986C-87DBFCEB5408.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlH1MtEXqWkkBL0Xz5i3eUyta2ya_8UM2dzzAKDLBvZWHncC-CFoG3T17nigKRJz1C4MtBSFwn4NRJa2FBQUzF7gEQbtuYfxU6AbTYunuW_oEwXg0Rn-wz06dMrWoQ4xz__xlTriNwJqvi/s320/7E694FD2-D896-4337-986C-87DBFCEB5408.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>
And this is the QAYG Hexies as was shown on the Missouri Star Quilt Show on YouTube. Great use for scraps.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
I’m working on other projects that I will share when they are finished.<br />
<br />
Fun to be back!<br />

Summer is almost here, Yay! It has been nice to get out and about and enjoy the sunshine. Our garden is planted, such that it is. We only planted tomatoes, green beans, zucchini squash and green peppers. Can't wait for fresh tomatoes. And I'm hoping the birds leave my blueberries alone.<br />
<br />
Most of my fruits are in my recent quilts. 😎<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a top I did in another Lori Holt Sew Along. Its called Sweetie Pie. </div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This top was done with the centers cut from the flowers in the Sweetie Pie Quilt.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I just finished making these strawberries today. I still need to sew on sashings and 2 borders. Love this one!!! All 3 tops need quilting. Thats next on the list.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Mackenzie is making this as her next project. You can see in the next picture she has the squares sewn together. Her Aunt Patty Hall gave her the pieces in a kit. She's doing well. Tomorrow we will layer and quilt it. Then she will make the baby on her next visit.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I have always loved David Bowie and his music. It was so sad when I heard he died. A few weeks later I heard that the UK was coming out with a commemorative stamp set to honor him. One of my friends from Scotland, Betty Brook, was kind enough to order and mail a set to me. I plan to get a nice frame for them.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
And, finally, my new do. LOL. It looked like that for 1 day, and I have not been successful at recreating the look.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Hope all is well with all my quilting friends.<br />

That can certainly be used to describe many situations. Like, how we had all that snow on a Friday, freezing temps on Saturday, then on Tuesday, all better with temps in the 60's.<br />
<br />
That goes the same for many things in our country. Or maybe it's the opposite. I really thought racial and gender equality was a done deal. I always thought that when all the old people who remembered segregation and bigotry were dead and gone, that it would be a non issue. I guess I forgot that those people have children and that they teach those children everything they know. Now it looks like all the bad stuff will be coming right back home to roost. It's a sad day for our country. Hopefully we can overcome this also.<br />
<br />
Quilts are also here today, gone tomorrow. At least they are gone from the UFO pile, and many times gone from our house to go live somewhere else. I have been reducing my finished quilt stacks by giving quilts for every occasion I can think of, lol. But I still have way too many.<br />
<br />
This is my latest quilt to finish up. It was from a Lori Holt quilt along done in 2016. I love the brightness of her patterns. And I love this quilt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKeGMqS2q-a05ZG1EFx34aN0uy_odFncSNynhZZpQMqr8QUWNhJ1yWQy9G_i3-DHDhYQ160sHfdMYhwk8x6VDhSwP3qTMBDQhY9PUgLcIeZyQmw6-g8j3L2_DWmQlTP3y4552QN_yBweNk/s1600/IMG_1487.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="287" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKeGMqS2q-a05ZG1EFx34aN0uy_odFncSNynhZZpQMqr8QUWNhJ1yWQy9G_i3-DHDhYQ160sHfdMYhwk8x6VDhSwP3qTMBDQhY9PUgLcIeZyQmw6-g8j3L2_DWmQlTP3y4552QN_yBweNk/s320/IMG_1487.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I mentioned in my last post that my GGD, Mackenzie, was going to start trying her hand at the sewing machine. She did so good!!! She's a natural. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a swag she made to let her get the feel of running fabric through the machine. . She was very proud. Her sister, Khloe, will learn the machine after I'm done with Mackenzie. (She was cold so was wearing one of my sweaters, lol. )</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIZ_eTb9WUlZ_U-s7DaIGrKr5Xq86UIC_AtF25iT9AvpIQPj48uj9sLI8PPZ6PKBqrQv25aHdOU_2Tv_Ik0dXYbnLGc-_F_0EpO6XZZTf723cLI5fgueRV2KgHoJz6rL8sIQLKFmxheQol/s1600/IMG_1474.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIZ_eTb9WUlZ_U-s7DaIGrKr5Xq86UIC_AtF25iT9AvpIQPj48uj9sLI8PPZ6PKBqrQv25aHdOU_2Tv_Ik0dXYbnLGc-_F_0EpO6XZZTf723cLI5fgueRV2KgHoJz6rL8sIQLKFmxheQol/s320/IMG_1474.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
When she was finished with the swag, she made this little quilt. She sewed it all together. All I did was sew the binding onto the back so she could sew it down on the front, and I put her name on it.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4jSPx8avHPlChrW3FIxNz9nKX23kk8NZuUEK8ZaTGLauDMLdYjNvDlVXPOPEl241EeJbOMW9Zws1UwdIUBZuxAWxMyb3GAjXFMn_ssLU-OKbGGs3f80GBeD3HQehg7FNmTGwZMPDSdh15/s1600/IMG_1479.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4jSPx8avHPlChrW3FIxNz9nKX23kk8NZuUEK8ZaTGLauDMLdYjNvDlVXPOPEl241EeJbOMW9Zws1UwdIUBZuxAWxMyb3GAjXFMn_ssLU-OKbGGs3f80GBeD3HQehg7FNmTGwZMPDSdh15/s320/IMG_1479.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />
<br />
Yesterday she came over and made this pillow for her sister. She did all the sewing on this. It was a printed fabric, but she quilted down the lines.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Next on my agenda is making a couple of sets of the microwave bowl holders for my DIL. That shouldn't take too long. Then back to my sew alongs. In addition to the Winter Solstice, which is so very easy, I'm starting another Lori Holt project. It should be fun.</div>
<br />
I'll keep you posted. haha.<br />

Yesterday the high was like 17F, today is going to be up to 36F, tomorrow mid 40's, Thursday low 60's then Friday mid 60's. Gotta love the south.<br />
<br />
Did the 3rd block in Pat Sloan's Winter Solstice sewalong. I guess I will stick with the blues since that seems to be the way I am heading.<br />

<br />
Here it is all done! It came out great. And I am so delighted that I quilted the whole thing without any thread breaks or tension issues. I love it when that happens.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I saw this posted somewhere so I thought I would give it a try. I am somewhat lax about labeling quilts, so when I saw this, I got excited. So easy and I like the way it looks. Next time I will add a little more info. I used my usual 2 1/2" strips to make the binding. After folding it in half and pressing, just program your machine's alphabet to spell out what you want. Sew it close to the folded edge, then be sure you have your binding pinned/clipped the right way so the letters are on the correct side. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
While I was rooting around I found this quilt half finished. The jars were done in a swap in 2003, and I know I pieced the top a couple of years later. I plan to finish quilting this on the Janome. I don't think an all over quilting would do it justice.</div>

Oh, I also had time to knit a new hat. A friend had made me one with this yarn, but it was too big, so I unraveled it and made this one that does fit. I don't look good in a hat, but it sure does keep my head warm.<br />

I have to finish pinning this quilt on the frame then can get to quilting it. It was from a Lori Holt sew along from last year.<br />

<br />
First, I totally finished the barn quilt and it's hanging on the wall. I just love this quilt!!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgptV_iEYnIxQ3Rb-0q_4yz-JvywLK73HoZVmuLLRZpaYVDdRD5Eo9fcMqxnKoEG0CLlkibL8yHR-gEKVdUp9vNm1qUAksa7rsMJA4Byc80VpS9S0TVxVFa6Lu88tkukCOY18yUbrT7FSIO/s1600/IMG_2011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgptV_iEYnIxQ3Rb-0q_4yz-JvywLK73HoZVmuLLRZpaYVDdRD5Eo9fcMqxnKoEG0CLlkibL8yHR-gEKVdUp9vNm1qUAksa7rsMJA4Byc80VpS9S0TVxVFa6Lu88tkukCOY18yUbrT7FSIO/s320/IMG_2011.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
Finished a Moda sew along Homestead Hearth. It was so much fun to make. I'm going to go get batting today so I can get it on the frame for quilting.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWIpuT73q6szdAs92BW2vgLIAotITvBtZmSN_A8by-ZmIvBCpDhk4AMTND3CHg17pjk5ZB6cPoeNYBmJD1JlBKIVso7y14MqOqEmjUC8A0bmv09rkg0yX6DLWZmJSul9i33szpGEdUx46v/s1600/IMG_1455.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWIpuT73q6szdAs92BW2vgLIAotITvBtZmSN_A8by-ZmIvBCpDhk4AMTND3CHg17pjk5ZB6cPoeNYBmJD1JlBKIVso7y14MqOqEmjUC8A0bmv09rkg0yX6DLWZmJSul9i33szpGEdUx46v/s320/IMG_1455.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />

And since I am a woman of my word, here are a few.<br />
<br />
My son gave me a kit to make this pin cushion for Christmas last year. I finally got it made. They even have these in a full size foot stool!! Don't think I will make one of those soon though.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMMPwy4joCV3yfj_YG_fdWSPo8Y6pn931gyVtB3k2ZU22JzX852m5okGB-QgHtMUzfX8z50lqWoSrb0Bzi7korZhNldNd5Ycpk6tusdmxpFdjl5mU9kYbKrdq8av8FHlYvsHKxR2i7D-_f/s1600/E4B46886-3968-412F-9B49-D3B189D42235.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMMPwy4joCV3yfj_YG_fdWSPo8Y6pn931gyVtB3k2ZU22JzX852m5okGB-QgHtMUzfX8z50lqWoSrb0Bzi7korZhNldNd5Ycpk6tusdmxpFdjl5mU9kYbKrdq8av8FHlYvsHKxR2i7D-_f/s320/E4B46886-3968-412F-9B49-D3B189D42235.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In 2011 I started embroidering these barns to make a Barn Quilt. I found them a few weeks ago and finished the last 4. Now to make the sashings. Its going to be so pretty!!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivPXZPHZC_7mqCXlTiXniJptmCJK5ykH1EvgNS4lgAm58U2phWxze5MG-isyK1mxQ1ZvNr2hHdgozp2Y-14FAWk-94sGFioJtUPhUZ-hhjI_SY3bfeo4_0MlYEs8sO8pDmMbmEc8Bt6UYm/s1600/IMG_1914.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivPXZPHZC_7mqCXlTiXniJptmCJK5ykH1EvgNS4lgAm58U2phWxze5MG-isyK1mxQ1ZvNr2hHdgozp2Y-14FAWk-94sGFioJtUPhUZ-hhjI_SY3bfeo4_0MlYEs8sO8pDmMbmEc8Bt6UYm/s320/IMG_1914.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am doing the Moda Quilt-a-long, Be My Neighbor. It is a fun weekly project. Here are my first 3 blocks. They are 18" blocks, so the pieces are big. It's going to be awesome.</div>

I have 2 pieces of "art", both prints of paintings. The big one was given to me by the artist, Kin Shogren, when I was doing home health care in 1990. It is one of my prized possessions. The small one is a little print by Sally Nixon. She did paintings of herself doing normal things that a girl does when alone. That is exactly me in my couch nest with my snacks, book, laptop etc within reach, covered by a quilt. It is a tiny print, 4", but I had to have it!</div>

And finally, after watching way too many episodes of Fixer Upper, I wanted a wooden wall above my bed. We found the distressed white wood at a surplus store. The guy charged us 20.00 for the wood and cut it to size for free. WIN!!! And I love the way it looks.</div>

Our daffodils are blooming and the weather is finally warming up. The only thing I don't like is stupid Daylight Savings Time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's how I feel. It needs to stop!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On a sad note, a friend of mine, and an especially close friend to my sister, Patty, passed away recently from kidney failure while waiting for a transplant. It was so sad. The internet quilt group I am involved with, ABC Quilters, made blocks and I put them together for a quilt in her memory. I donated the quilt, plus another to the dialysis center near me. They were so happy to receive them. Dialysis patients are hooked up to the machines for an average of 4 hours, 3 days a week. They get very cold and always need blankets. Keep dialysis centers in mind when you have lap quilts to donate.</div>

This quilt was a round robin from The Quilting Bee Forum. </div>

But I am very happy with this arrangement.<br />
<br />
It is in the semi-finished side of the garage which has gotten much use going from Our room when we first moved here, then my sewing room, than grandson lived there, then it was a playroom for the girls, then back to grandson, and now back to sewing room. Whew. The best part is when it's all moved, for a short while it is very neat. You can see it for yourself.<br />

The quilt on the frame is finished as soon as I get the binding sewn down. I quilted this top for my oldest sister, Joanne. She found it at a rummage sale and asked me to finish it for her. I expect a really nice birthday present from her this year. :) It's such a simple quilt, but pretty and a great easy way to use up a bunch of scraps.<br />
<br />
I'm beginning to get more productive with cooler weather coming on.<br />
<br />
Keep Warm.<br />

It was a hectic summer with the result being I am raising 2 of my great granddaughters for the school year. So I have a good excuse!!<br />
<br />
<br />
I've been doing lots of sewing, went to a retreat in Kentucky, near Louisville and had a great time. Finished up a rag quilt while I was there. I will post pictures soon.<br />
<br />
Anyway, life is good, and I will post more often.<br />
<br />
Later,<br />

Can it really be mid April? This winter was so cold, even for us, that I thought it would never be over. But now things are warming up I am looking forward to getting back out on the trails, and getting more quilting energy.<br />
<br />
I haven't done a lot of quilting, but I did do this neat artsy wallhanging called The Nest. It is different then anything else I have ever done, and I really like it. I got the pattern from <a href="http://such-designs.com/" target="_blank">Such Designs.</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaaJWJVTfZvnURAArjdoN7lGYMMscb1k4f8xzSQPQZINLlfFJw5rfCYhdMtOums_Nl7fFfnfzxzedl8bGhLg97ah7eFha1DBuGPj_kNB4AWy4GKumy_fU9LE4u93sAm82lr9W0cFrS1Ng5/s1600/IMG_1174.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaaJWJVTfZvnURAArjdoN7lGYMMscb1k4f8xzSQPQZINLlfFJw5rfCYhdMtOums_Nl7fFfnfzxzedl8bGhLg97ah7eFha1DBuGPj_kNB4AWy4GKumy_fU9LE4u93sAm82lr9W0cFrS1Ng5/s1600/IMG_1174.jpg" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I also got a pattern for a Rock Cairn wallhanging, from the same place, that I have almost done. I got it all finished and then decided that it needed one more rock on top. Don't you agree? It is all ready to be stitched down. Then I want to paint my kitchen/dining room pale gray to match it. This wall hanging is 24" x 72".<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Block Lotto. Fused batik flowers this month. Cute. But alas, I didn't win.<br />

During those cold days of this past winter I finally learned to knit with circular needles. I made myself 2 felted hats that I love!!! They were so much fun to do.<br />

Lori Holt came out with a new book called Farm Girl Vintage. I pre ordered it and it came last week. Wheee!!More really cute patterns. She is going to do a sew along on Instagram starting May 1st. I get more stuff done when Im doing a sew along, lol.<br />

So much coughing, but now taking antibiotics and some prednisone for a few days so hopefully on the mend.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">In my periods of feeling ok, I was able to sew a bit. Finished the Peppermint Twist quilt top. The reds are not true in this picture. But I like it!! It won't get quilted until after the holidays as all the boxes for the decorations are on my frame, lol. That's OK, though. I need a little time to decide on how to quilt it.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2CGBfhh9AyosbdUCFpMbMiRxLRV-K-7LHxrIErEEGBF9qWvaMMgFUIjdMbJrqcYnXzCbS8tdZSb4MvefQJCC72vQc3xLoxbRKaln-jTUGyHHGhgZYcC1CpWiphS4EMSRIUcZPpV4J9ehl/s1600/twist.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2CGBfhh9AyosbdUCFpMbMiRxLRV-K-7LHxrIErEEGBF9qWvaMMgFUIjdMbJrqcYnXzCbS8tdZSb4MvefQJCC72vQc3xLoxbRKaln-jTUGyHHGhgZYcC1CpWiphS4EMSRIUcZPpV4J9ehl/s1600/twist.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: 18px;"><span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">Since I made so many HST for the peppermint twist quilt, I have also had to trim all of them too. The most boring job in the world. I was looking up something for a quilting friend and happened upon this blog that tells an easier way for trimming. Like her, I can’t believe I didn’t know about this before!!! And I even had the ruler!! Go look. Cuts the trimming time in half!!!</span></span><br />

I love this time of year. Folks seem to be happier and it is fun to go anywhere just to people watch. I am so fortunate to have great grandkids living nearby to celebrate the holiday with us. They make it so magical and fun.<br />
<br />
I have all my Christmas cards signed and addressed and ready to go in the mail. I usually send a few a day just so I can tell when the mailman comes. And all of my shopping is done. Not sure how that happened, but hey, I'm not complaining, lol.<br />
<br />
I have heard that unscrupulous people follow the UPS guy around and after he/she drops off packages, and after making sure no one is home, they go and steal the boxes right off the porch. Watch out for your neighbors everyone. If you see someone lurking about, call law enforcement.<br />
<br />
I finished my quilt along with Lori Holt. It came out so sweet. I did an all over meander as the quilt is so busy any special quilting would be lost. If you notice, I have stopped hanging my quilts with a sleeve, I really like the clips on the rings. Much easier, and they actually "hang".<br />
<br />

Another thing from Lori Holt..mini design boards. They are so cute and helpful when bringing pieces from the design wall to the machine. I had a couple I already made, but went ahead and used the rest of the foam board I had to make 4 more. You can get 6-10" pieces from each sheet. If you would like to make some, here is a link for the instructions. <a href="http://beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.com/2011/07/mini-design-board-tutorial.html" target="_blank">Mini Design Boards.</a> I didn't use hot glue, I used tacky glue and it works great!!</div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I started another quilt called Peppermint Twist. I was looking for something to dig into and found the pattern from several years ago. It is pretty. I have this block made, and all the others cut out. Good use for the design boards!!!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And this is how the finished quilt should look, lol. I am using only stash to make mine. I didn't have a large enough piece of fabric for the background, so I am using 2 fabrics similar in color. As long as I get everything where it should be, it will be awesome, lol. I'll keep you posted on my progress.</div>

<br /></div>
<div>
Oh, I am also doing a little sew along/mystery with Temecula Quilt Co called 12 days of Christmas. They did it a few years ago but brought it back. Here are my 1st 6 blocks. They are 3 1/2 ' unfinished.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And a picture of our tree!! I love it. It's so fun looking at all the bulbs from years past. They all have memories.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0fg-Jfiqs5foqpc5lm41O1_hBVR7S0QxGTqHNzrPjRaVHTX92QViwR_WJbhzXx0_jxQ_0neEP9Wv-5s6DW_q7O1XOcz68e6y-cMLkz4L2W6RoKl9QOf7BO2nzprbtI2kO_guTEwFdn83V/s1600/room.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0fg-Jfiqs5foqpc5lm41O1_hBVR7S0QxGTqHNzrPjRaVHTX92QViwR_WJbhzXx0_jxQ_0neEP9Wv-5s6DW_q7O1XOcz68e6y-cMLkz4L2W6RoKl9QOf7BO2nzprbtI2kO_guTEwFdn83V/s1600/room.jpg" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Yesterday I made microwave peanut brittle. I highly recommend the microwave method. No blanching raw peanuts etc. Quick and easy, and it tasted just the same. Google it. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also made all the peanut butter balls for Buckeyes yesterday. Today I get to do the messy part of dipping them in chocolate. I love these so much that I package them in small amounts and freeze them so I can't just grab one overtime I walk by, lol. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm going to make 1 batch of cut out cookies so the kids can decorate them this weekend. And Dave wants some of the cookies with the kiss on top. That's more than enough for us!!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Just looked outside and it is snowing!!! A good day to stay in and bake, and sew!!</div>
<div>

But, I am also full of holiday cheer and expectations.<br />
<br />
Speaking of Christmas, I finished the Tall Christmas Tree. I love it!!!<br />

<br />
<br />
I found some resin/melamine bowls, and made some bowl holders for them to use in the microwave. So sweet. These are going to my DIL, Lisa, for Christmas. She doesn't read my blog, lol. There is a free tutorial for these at <a href="http://syzygyofme.blogspot.com/2012/06/microwave-bowl-potholder-and-tutorial.html" target="_blank">Syzygy of Me</a>. I love these too and plan to make some for myself.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
I also finished the top in the Quilty Fun Sew Along I talked about last post. It came out very nice. Now to quilt it and add the few final embellishments.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
And last but not least, I got some free jeans for GGS that had big holes in the knees and decided to give a try making weird patches I saw on Pinterest. They are awesome, and he loves them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
So, I have been busy and productive. My sewing frenzy continues, lol.<br />

I will be contacting you for your mailing address.</span><br />
<span style="color: red;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span>Now. I did do a little quilting this past week. A while back, my little online group, ABC Quilters, had a swap of thread-like blocks. I finally got motivated and put them together. The original idea came from book by Edyta Sitar called, Friendship Strips and Scraps. I kind of used her pattern for a spool quilt, but didn't do the appliquéd borders. I used the extra pieces I had in the borders. It is a nice top. Just needs to be quilted.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLXlznZnhWVmgZ833z2QFTxGUFR0xLpPGi5zO-Rrytf0_86ZqfFL1jS2NrtYKIoh4gwiMS0R3fC3af9Y5a4lhEFsrw2HqApHFT0hJ79S_O6G-qkYA092bRzvOM5eHJH0yAZnsjqvG0IOyB/s1600/spools.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLXlznZnhWVmgZ833z2QFTxGUFR0xLpPGi5zO-Rrytf0_86ZqfFL1jS2NrtYKIoh4gwiMS0R3fC3af9Y5a4lhEFsrw2HqApHFT0hJ79S_O6G-qkYA092bRzvOM5eHJH0yAZnsjqvG0IOyB/s1600/spools.jpg" height="320" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also made up a cute apron and hot pad for a good friend who is having Dave and I over for Thanksgiving Dinner. The young folks in my family are entertaining other young folks, so we took this opportunity to eat somewhere else and for the first time in forever, not have to cook!!! Though I will miss the leftovers. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyway, I bought the pattern as a kit from <a href="http://www.pleasant-home.com/" target="_blank">Pleasant Home</a> quite a while ago. She always uses such nice pretty fabrics. It came out sweet!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNlJsd93PwrSISWU4QhHqqLaD4kb5RiaMqkp3lVvYBS6F3aI9vdTOvZnS_EKzk07ovPPXzdsUYd8amoUGqXhSHvuD4JU5NYe5i8n9nLrx0_YTIDOO1xHdhMPF0oFkxK79KArCn9obXn-CE/s1600/apron.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNlJsd93PwrSISWU4QhHqqLaD4kb5RiaMqkp3lVvYBS6F3aI9vdTOvZnS_EKzk07ovPPXzdsUYd8amoUGqXhSHvuD4JU5NYe5i8n9nLrx0_YTIDOO1xHdhMPF0oFkxK79KArCn9obXn-CE/s1600/apron.jpg" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I did those things above as I was searching for a new and exciting project and found them. But, now I have found something else!! Go to Lori Holt's blog, <a href="http://beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Bee in My Bonnett</a>, and read about her Have Yourself a Quilty Little Christmas, an Instagram sew along using her book, Quilty Fun. I happened to have the book, so I decided to sew along. I have 4 blocks finished so far, and I think it's going to be a really nice quilt. I didn't have Instagram, so I did make an account, but after this I don't think I will add more people on there as I have a hard enough time keeping up with Facebook, lol. This project has me excited!! I got out of bed this morning wanting to sew.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here is a picture of the book, and my blocks so far.</div>

So, to mark this momentous occasion, I am having a giveaway. You can see in the picture the prizes for the lucky winner. The fabric is a 2 yard piece of a pretty wintery print. The patterns are ones I bought and never opened. Maybe you can actually make them, lol. I finished the Tall Christmas Tree, yay. The pattern had 2 sets of papers for piecing, so I am giving the second set away. Anyway, here is the picture.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

To win, just leave a nice comment and next week I will randomly pick a winner. Make sure there is a way I can contact you.<br />
<br />
So, now on to my pretties to share with you.<br />
<br />
First, the tree!! I meandered in the background, and outline quilted on the big pieces. I also made a little star ornament for the top. All of my handmade ornaments from swaps are in the attic, but I will put on as many as possible when I hang this. This wasn't hard to make if you are familiar with paper piecing, but it is 7 feet high and turning it under the needle was a struggle at times. And thank goodness for the button stitch on my Bernina!!! Whoever wins the giveaway will have plenty of time to make this by Christmas.<br />

<br />
I recently returned to the monthly Doll Quilt Swap, and this was the first little quilt I received. I absolutely love it!! A nice Canadian named Mary made this beauty. She said she tried 3D flowers for the first time. She sure did a great job.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
Mary doesn't visit my blog, so I feel safe posting the small quilt I made for her. I am not good with curves, but saw a quilt similar to this on the web somewhere and thought I would give it a try. It was hard getting the pieced curves to fit in, but I like the way it came out. Not perfect, but pretty, I think. Now I remember why I don't like curves. :)<br />

I got the Tall Tree pieced and layered for quilting. It will be so cool!! About 7 feet tall.Of course the picture is crooked, lol. The x blocks on the side are my entries in the Block Lotto this month.<br />

This is the first quilt I have had to pin in a long time, but it's almost done. I just have to close all the pins, which brings me to this neat gadget my sister gave me several years ago. A pin closer!!! It sure comes in handy. It definitely saves the fingers.</div>

I did finish another small quilt. These swirl trees were very popular a couple of years ago and I have had the appliqué done for that long. So this week I got 'er done!! I absolutely love this quilt. Its about 2x3 feet. The background is really white with a silvery sheen and the prints also have a bit of silver in them. The colors just don't show as well when the sun doesn't shine.</div>

Hope you all have a great day.<br />

I was so excited to get started on it. Instead of sewing patchwork, I bought fabric printed with squares and quilted the panels from that. Small squares made for lots of quilting. It went together so nicely and quickly since I had just finished my own. Well, I had it all finished except the arm cuffs, as I needed to mark where to adjust the length to her cute little arms. Got all finished, except for trimming threads (now is one of those times I wish I had a serger...), tried it on her, and it was so short that the lower band came above her waist, and the pockets were on her chest, lol. I was bummed. Here's a picture. You can see how short the body was. My first clue should have been using a 12 inch zipper. That's short! And this was a size 6.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC77q4sUl71_Yf2MGjowXtU77_-lRrgMvBKb88Brr6VnCY0h4Tb5ndTeiwt8ZXc4jPNG56u99SfoqSOM-CCgy58yuVmOzSuNoKmD4CvaTF_95rOvNKRz3vmHD5-5UEwIwPEVZE3zE4Nx0g/s1600/FullSizeRender.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC77q4sUl71_Yf2MGjowXtU77_-lRrgMvBKb88Brr6VnCY0h4Tb5ndTeiwt8ZXc4jPNG56u99SfoqSOM-CCgy58yuVmOzSuNoKmD4CvaTF_95rOvNKRz3vmHD5-5UEwIwPEVZE3zE4Nx0g/s1600/FullSizeRender.jpg" height="209" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I thought about giving it to Goodwill, but hated to lose all the time I spent quilting the fabric. Sat and thought for a while and then had a great idea! I removed the band and the pockets and the zipper. Cut a 4 1/2" piece of the quilted fabric I had left over, and attached it to the bottom of the coat using the QAYG method of joining blocks. I zigzagged the pieces together to prevent having a seam and covered the zigzag with fabric strips. Then reapplied the band, a longer zipper and put the pockets back on. It lies flat and is not really noticeable. Of course I couldn't get the coat to lie flat in my picture!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, here is a the finished product. She loves this fabric!! I will take a picture of her in it when I give it to her tonight. </div>

Next, I have fabric with Hello Kitty squares to quilt and make a jacket for her younger sister, Khloe. I will definitely make it longer than the pattern to start with on hers!!!<br />
<br />
I have started a new project for myself, Tall Tree by <a href="http://www.averyspecialcollection.com/shop/little_bit_more/page1.htm" target="_blank">Cindy Egerton.</a> I have all the pieces cut and just started the paper piecing. My sister, Patty, made one and got a ribbon for it in a quilt show. You can see hers <a href="http://quilter000.blogspot.com/2014/09/my-quilts.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />

I guess it's ok not to put a title though. Right?<br />
<br />
Spent most of this past week quilting tops for a friend. I did 3 for her, and 1 for me. Well, the one for me isn't for me, it's a gift for a former coworker who is having her 1st biological grandchild. It's so cute and colorful. I found the fabric in my stash. I also made 4 coordinating burp cloths. For some reason the panel only had 8 different baby heads, so I had to improvise and fill in the middle square. I like the way it came out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-xcYmFjMIF7Tw75HN_hR-ofesSYAvemdCpYEiEPWGK-Z4id6CORt6sWUT3F7YekHoGG4NkSqcryl4MMJ0DyGO-Zl2MY1eCKf-yzjge0ko5EX9X2q13kcg6psr5DOGQt6P5pPRHMf4iZgY/s1600/baby.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-xcYmFjMIF7Tw75HN_hR-ofesSYAvemdCpYEiEPWGK-Z4id6CORt6sWUT3F7YekHoGG4NkSqcryl4MMJ0DyGO-Zl2MY1eCKf-yzjge0ko5EX9X2q13kcg6psr5DOGQt6P5pPRHMf4iZgY/s1600/baby.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I also made a small purse to match my new coat. I seldom carry a full size purse anymore. This little one has plenty of room for everything that I need.<br />

I started on a Heartwarming jacket for ggd, Kenzie, and should have it done this weekend. I need her here to finish it as I have to mark the length of the sleeves and put on the cuffs. She will be here tomorrow so I will have it done to post a picture next time.<br />
<br />
Started, a Big Tree wallhanging (almost 7 feet tall!), that is paper pieced. Huge pieces so should be a little different to work with. And I am still plugging away on the embroidery for the barn quilt I started forever ago, lol.<br />
<br />
Going hiking today with some friends and the dogs up to the Rich Mountain firetower in Hot Springs. I can never make myself climb the tower, but today I hope to be shamed by having friends there, lol. We will see. If I do get past the first landing, where I usually stop, there will definitely be pictures!!<br />
<br />
Looking forward to rejoining the Monthly Doll Quilt Swap (see link on sidebar) for November. Slowly getting back to all my former quilting activities.<br />
<br />
Later,<br />

It came out a little big, but there will be plenty of room for bulky sweaters, sweatshirts underneath. I'm happy with it. Don't mind my jammies, lol<br />

I also made 6 blocks for the Block Lotto (see sidebar link). I did this for a long time in the past, and now I am happy to be back. It is a fun swap and you get tons of ideas for new blocks. These are called woven bars.<br />

We took a 5 mile walk at Biltmore on Sunday. It was surprisingly not too crowded. Folks must be waiting for the leaves to get more colorful. I was walking along and Dave told me to turn around, and took a picture. Then he posted it on Facebook with the caption...Which one is the smart ass?...I didn't notice the donkeys in the background. He's soo funny. Ha. Ha.<br />

<br />
Saw an article about the new fashions (yeah, I look, but I don't wear, lol. ) They said it was a good year to mix prints. Thought it looked somewhat familiar for some reason.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVnvauTwDzqIbq61N2LOaLr1_6zLJHF6noc7azuciOK7mLY5e1GEbr32_UbWSSaQEKRXP-rg_hMzyWWB4R0isiQXhWB_pdSvaGu08xZ1Bvfi06AQBtmOj36EEkjEXNBA-RSzyEJvYUAtRW/s1600/stripes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVnvauTwDzqIbq61N2LOaLr1_6zLJHF6noc7azuciOK7mLY5e1GEbr32_UbWSSaQEKRXP-rg_hMzyWWB4R0isiQXhWB_pdSvaGu08xZ1Bvfi06AQBtmOj36EEkjEXNBA-RSzyEJvYUAtRW/s1600/stripes.jpg" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I looked through some of my old pictures and behold!!! I had the same outfit as a girl, though I chose shorts instead of a skirt. I was so ahead of my time in the fashion sense, lol.<br />
<br />

<br />
You can see the car that would become mine, in 4 more years, in the background. I worked for 3 weeks at Manners Big Boy to save 50.00 to buy that car from my sister. And she bought it new in the year the picture was taken!!<br />
<br />
This week I want to finish sewing the quilted fabric panels to make Kenzie (the sweetie in the picture at the top with me) a jacket. I need to piece a quilt top for a baby shower. And I have 2 tops to quilt for a paying customer. So I will be busy.<br />

We are going up on the Parkway today to check out the color changes in the higher elevations. Taking the dogs on a well deserved hike. I will take pictures....<br />

Got my coat cut out yesterday, sewed the shoulder seams and started to put on the collar and it wouldn't fit!! Looked closer and I had sewn on the fronts on the opposite sides. So, right off the bat (haha, get it, bat?), I had to rip it out. Might get back in time today to work on it a little, we will see. It is getting cool enough for a coat in the mornings, so I need to get this done!!<br />
<br />
Have a great day!<br />

Yesterday we packed up the dogs and went on a hike to Rattlesnake Lodge on the Blue Ridge parkway. It's the ruins from a summer home of a wealthy person a long time ago. And it is along the Mountains to Sea trail. We started farther away to make the hike 5 miles and the dogs did great!! Even little Mona. If you want to learn more about the ruins, you can go here: <a href="http://www.rattlesnakelodge.com/" target="_blank">RattleSnake Lodge </a>. I didn't take many pictures, but here is one view along the ascent.<br />

This past July I went to my 45th High School Reunion. It was a blast!! And I got to see some old friends, and I mean old, lol. There were hundreds of pictures taken, but this one is of me and a good friend from Junior High School, Nyssa. Memories I will never forget!!<br />

<br />
A few of us girls rode around my hometown of Mansfield, Ohio. We toured to see all of the changes that have occurred in the past 45 years, and there are many. But some things never change...like the City News. It has been there as long as I can remember. And Coney Island, yum!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Now, quilting.. A did some quilting for a friend a couple of weeks ago. She brought me the quilt to be finished, and also all of her spare pieces that she ended up not using. I couldn't throw them away so I made some more stuff. :) Mostly 9 patches and squares, but I made this wall hanging first. (Poor light this morning, colors aren't true). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Still had more, so I cut up a few 9 patches and made this little table cloth. The picture is of it not sewn, but you can get my drift. I didn't take any pictures of it finished. I also had even more niners left, so I made her 2 placemats to go along with this. Can't let things go to waste, now can we??</div>

A wallhanging I did a few years ago doing a mystery with Lexy Correiea (sp?) from what used to be the Quilting Passion forum. It is very fallish. One of the first quilts I line quilted with my Bernina. </div>

So, I thought I would try harder and at least post once a week. Christmas is getting closer and I need some new projects, and there is nowhere I know of that I can get lots of ideas than the blogs of my internet friends.<br />
<br />
Right now I am making a new Heartwarming Jacket. I made one in the early 90's and totally wore it out!! 2 of my sisters and I decided we all needed new ones, so we searched and found patterns on ebay. They are out of print now, but there seem to be a lot of them for sale. You make the quilted panels then cut out the coat. I have 2 panels totally done, and 2 more to quilt, then sew the coat together. They are so nice!! I did mine with muslin and 30's prints.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJZfr0CchRh9_qH0wAGRuwdHkywfbntNdh_h-FHa7z2JzWvLhR1inacQ601dWIE1h7GygzT5hFmXhdI0yKFn4lJnRwtiQClYPYcZj3fGOdkBb5qFi7PPGhQnrMJgsXahkBv7LHWb29wUQl/s1600/jacket043.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJZfr0CchRh9_qH0wAGRuwdHkywfbntNdh_h-FHa7z2JzWvLhR1inacQ601dWIE1h7GygzT5hFmXhdI0yKFn4lJnRwtiQClYPYcZj3fGOdkBb5qFi7PPGhQnrMJgsXahkBv7LHWb29wUQl/s1600/jacket043.jpg" height="320" width="242" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghvivJugr1z58boDV43KEqq4HjDRr6VwYb6jk-L0Vx6dI1jMjdyA7Xe9-BufHfZAM9188Xhg3LyWKtofLQD29tuJ9crDb5fOlzimBblymHrUZdREngtoeW7ZvtO5OO8te9EXs9NS-7wddb/s1600/photo+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghvivJugr1z58boDV43KEqq4HjDRr6VwYb6jk-L0Vx6dI1jMjdyA7Xe9-BufHfZAM9188Xhg3LyWKtofLQD29tuJ9crDb5fOlzimBblymHrUZdREngtoeW7ZvtO5OO8te9EXs9NS-7wddb/s1600/photo+1.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And, like so many others in the quilting world, I am trying to cut up and organize my scraps. I have cut up a lot of pieces already. But the more you pull out of your scrap basket, it fluffs up and looks just as full, lol. I cut 5" sq pieces first, then 4", 3 1/2", 2 1/2" and 1' 1/2'. Strips longer than 12 " are saved, 2 1/2", 2", and 1 1/2". <br />
<br />

<br />
This is what I have so far, after about 5 hours of cutting, lol. I have found quite a few small pieced sections that I am going to try to sew together someday. Someday....<br />
