I miss my blog, and looking at all of the blogs I used to keep up with. So, I thought I would try harder and at least post once a week. Christmas is getting closer and I need some new projects, and there is nowhere I know of that I can get lots of ideas than the blogs of my internet friends.
Right now I am making a new Heartwarming Jacket. I made one in the early 90's and totally wore it out!! 2 of my sisters and I decided we all needed new ones, so we searched and found patterns on ebay. They are out of print now, but there seem to be a lot of them for sale. You make the quilted panels then cut out the coat. I have 2 panels totally done, and 2 more to quilt, then sew the coat together. They are so nice!! I did mine with muslin and 30's prints.
And, like so many others in the quilting world, I am trying to cut up and organize my scraps. I have cut up a lot of pieces already. But the more you pull out of your scrap basket, it fluffs up and looks just as full, lol. I cut 5" sq pieces first, then 4", 3 1/2", 2 1/2" and 1' 1/2'. Strips longer than 12 " are saved, 2 1/2", 2", and 1 1/2".
This is what I have so far, after about 5 hours of cutting, lol. I have found quite a few small pieced sections that I am going to try to sew together someday. Someday....
So, I posted for this week. Now to go look at all of my favorite blogs!!

Nice to see you post again.. like you I miss reading blogs. And do try to read some each day.
Enjoy your day..
What a great pattern and you have gotten a wonderful start. Scraps just have a mind of their own. Good to see you back.
Cutting up scraps is no fun but it sure does make the scrap pile look prettier.
Nice work must have been a glitch on the cyber world. I tried 3 times this morning to leave a comment never saw the comment section scrolled all the way to the bottom must be my fault.
I like what you are making.

That looks like a great jacket pattern. And I like your fabric, too. I am about to start a new sweatshirt jacket (the two I made before are now too big for me). I have had a lot of trouble coming up with a quilt block plan but I recently got the fabric I want to use and today bought two sweatshirts to see which one I want to use. I'll be on my way soon.
Hello stranger! Love the jacket, my mum did a simila thing years ago for me. I cut all my scraps into 5 or 2.5" strips, then I can cut squares if I want them
I was glad to see your name pop up in my mailbox! I remember that pattern! I might even have it somewhere around here. It was very popular, so I look forward to seeing your new one. Nice to have sisters sewing, too. My scraps seem to multiply even as I use them. They are taking over my house, and EVERY project I do is scrappy, so how does that work????
The jacket is beautiful and so glad you are back on my blog. I love all your friends and like to see what they are sewing.
I used to have that jacket pattern. I wonder what happened to it? Prolly moved it along in a purge. Welcome back!
