Feast or Famine

Seems like just last week (actually it was!!) that I was having a hard time getting motivated, or finding anything to blog about that might be interesting, then all of a sudden, today I have bunches!!

First, I made this quilt for a Charity quilt kickoff on The Quilting Bee (see sidebar). The green fabric was sent to me to make a quilt. I like what I came up with, and named it "Does This Skirt Make My Feet Look Big?". I made the flip flops a tad to large, hence the name. Anyway, after everyone finished theirs, we all voted. I won 3rd prize!!!! I donated the quilt to the Asheville Guardian ad Litem office.

And Valerie, of Valerie's Patchwork, made me this cute chicken tote for my prize. Go visit her site, she is an excellent quilter, and if you are gluten intolerant, she has recipes and information for that.

When I was in my quilting slump, I made myself do something, and this is what it was, another Patchabilitie. Quick and sweet, and got me right back in the mood.

I am doing this mystery quilt with the ABC group, and it has bunches of small squares that I am to arrange all on my own!!! So, I found this little spyglass that reduces the squares into a quilt-like pic when I am up close. I have had this thing for so long and never used it, til now. My sister, Patty, gave it to me. She must have known something that I didn't, lol.

Quite some time ago I was lucky enough to get to be a Pay it Forward recipient from Benta, ( visit her site too, she does a lot of neat stuff!) a lady I met on the Block Lotto (see sidebar) boards. I received her package today and was so excited!!! There was this package inside the envelope.

Inside the package were these little scissor fobs that she makes. Sweet!!

Also enclosed were these really neat row counters, that will come in handy when I sew together the mystery mentioned above.

And finally, she sent me a lunch bag that is sooo cute. I couldn't get it to stand up right for the picture, but you can get the gist of it.

We took a long walk in town today, and as we were getting back to the car, I saw strawberries at the fruit stand, so I just had to stop. They are a little early this year, but man are they good. These are from Chesney, SC and are delicious!!! Did I say they were good??? MIL is making shortcake to go along with them for supper.

Then when I checked my emails, there was this recipe for a grilled Peanut Butter and Banana split sandwich using strawberries!!! OMG.

And one more thing about food. I absolutely LOVE oatmeal, but I like it sweet, and always used quite a bit of sugar. Plus I hated the cooking time at the stove, I prefer to microwave. Now I make my oatmeal like this: put 1/2 cup of Old Fashioned Oatmeal in a microwave safe bowl, add 1/2 cup water, stir, microwave for 1 minute. I add a few walnut pieces, a little bit of skim milk, sometimes a few raisins, then I sweeten it with a couple spoonfuls of Log Cabin sugar free maple syrup. It comes out awesome and perfect every time. And sweet enough to suit me. Just had to pass this along to those of you who actually read this whole post....:P

They liked their gifts!!

Made a little practice purse with a plastic window and sent it to GGD Kenzie. Then I felt bad about never sending GGS Ryan anything, so I made him the LEGO pillow. You can see by their pictures that they loved them!! Kenz has the little purse stuffed, and Ryan slept with his pillow that night. I remember when I was a little girl, whenever I got a new purse, I had to find things to put in it. We had at least 2 "junk drawers" in the kitchen, so I would always go through those to get stuff for my purse, lol.

We are having a family vacation at Lake Erie this summer, so I will get to see all of the kids at one time!!! It will be so fun. I can't wait!!

B I N G O!!!!!

Tonya from Hillbilly Handiworks, is hosting a Bingo game during the May for Me festivities. I am a little behind as the linking up has to be done by 4/22, but I finally got my bingo card done. I really liked it, then when I went to write "bingo" on the white part, even using fabric pens, the black bled. So I tried shading with pink. Doesn't look real good, but it will do. If I decide to make this into a little wall hanging, I will appliqué something over the letters.

Now to go get linked up for the game.

I made something....

Well, I kinda got out of my little sewing slump. Started rooting around and found some things I want to do. And actually finished one thing.

I have 3 great grandkids in Minnesota, 1 boy, and 2 little girls. It seems like most of the time the things I enjoy making most are girly stuff. And the boy gets left out. Sooooo, I found out that his interest has went from Spiderman to Legos, and decided to make him a LEGO pillow. His birthday isn't until later in the year, and if he is still into Legos, he will get a crap load of them from me, lol. I eyeballed the Lego logo (say that 5 times real fast!!) and put that on. Then decided some little legos would be cute. I didn't really want to appliqué the little bumps on the pieces, so I found polkadots that looked OK. He's only 5, so I'm sure he will like it, if only to use to hit his little sisters.

Then I found these small thimbles that I got from a swap a few years ago. They need to go into a small quilt. Might make this one for myself, and use the idea for the Monthly Doll Quilt swap in a coming month.

So, I haven't done a lot, but at least I did something!!

I really should make a bingo card, if I could just get motivated.

What to do, what to do....

I just don't know what to do next. Don't you hate that?? I have umpteen projects started, but none seems to be calling me. I did put together a Patchabilitie this morning, but now I don't feel like finishing it. Maybe I will put something on the frame and do a little quilting....nah. That's not what I want to do either.

Any ideas for a fun project?

April-smells so good

The title of this post has nothing to do with the post. April really does smell good.

I absolutely love the blocks for the Block Lotto this month. They are really fun to make!!! I have stacks of plaid fat quarters, so I am going to make a bunch for myself too!!

This was the doll quilt I made for the Monthly Doll Quilt swap. (See sidebar) I get so nervous thinking maybe my skills aren't up to par with others, but my partner seemed to like it. I will show you what I received when I get it.

My scrap bin won't close, so I thought it was time to do a leaders and enders quilt.

Here's a few I have started. I'm not sure what pattern I will end up using, but for now it's just getting them into sets of 2, then 4 patches.

The only problem is...now I'm getting a bin full of strips from cutting the scraps into squares. I guess a Heart Strings quilt is in my near future, lol.

Mug Rugs. Gotta love them!! My ABC Quilter's group is having a mug rug exchange. We are to make each person a mug rug using their color choices and our chosen pattern. These are the ones I chose. We're not supposed to mail til July!! Jeez, lol. That's a long time away. But mine are all done, so I just had to show you. No worry of them seeing these as the only people that look at blogs in that group are my 2 sisters, and I already showed these to them.

I saw this some place on the web, so sorry can't remember where, and saved the picture. On our last trip, I made one real quick, and this is so much better than using toothbrush holders. And when you get home, you just throw it in the wash. I would love to give credit to the maker, so if you're out there....

After my last post, apologizing about not posting much, I found this tag called Blogging Without Obligation. There is a link on the sidebar explaining the concept. It actually means that I will post anytime that I have something to show you, or something important to say or share, but I won't feel guilty when I don't. Make sense? I thought it was a good idea.

It's supposed to be rainy here today so I will be sewing , and therefore very happy.
