Sewing Room ReDo

Before:

During:

Look at this stuff!!! I wasn't sure if I could get it all back in!!!

After:

This container is full of bagged blocks to be put into quilts. From lotto winnings and swaps.

Found these tops that need to be quilted.

The books are lined up neatly.

The design wall side.

Only thing is with the quilter against the wall, I can't do pantographs, but I usually do freemo from the front side anyway. If I really want to work from back there, I will just have to move it out.

So, now I want to sew!!! But I want it to stay clean. I am happy.

3 more done!!

I feel like I'm making progress in cleaning out old projects. I have finished 3 more things, but in that process I found 2 more tops to quilt. Drat!! LOL.

Last year I won a great fat quarter bundle of Bliss fabrics from Cotton Way. This is the big quilt I made from those winnings. It's now hanging on the wall in the living room. It's quilted with a simple loopy pattern.

This one is a little quilt (21x30) made also from the Bliss winnings. Meandered this one.

And this top was made at a retreat last year. I had the ugliest fabric, but it came out so neat!!! It is also quilted in a meander.

I'm sure I will find many more things to finish up while doing the reorganization of the sewing room. Monday I'm taking everything out of here then bringing it back in a NEAT manner, lol. I'm tired already. Especially thinking about having to move all the fabric, then put it back...sigh.

Triangulations

For the month of March on the block lotto, I have to make some half square triangles. When deciding what method to use, I remembered that I had a program called Triangulations. Did a computer search and found it easily, whew!! Wow. How easy was this. Actually I don't believe I have used it before, if I have I don't remember....You simply print the pages, layer your 2 fabrics, sew on the broken lines, cut on the solid lines, and you have perfect half square triangles, the little tips are already cut off too. Awesome!! The paper comes off easily and neatly (read in the instructions how this is done). AND, the most important.......NO TRIMMING UP TO CORRECT SIZE!!!!!!! Each paper makes 8 half square triangles. I'll show you my finished blocks after the sneak peek is over. :)

Here's the link for the site: Triangulations

Here's what the package look like:

I have the 2.0, so mine doesn't have the geese.

I am in no way affiliated with this company, the thing just worked so well I had to tell you all about it.

I forgot I had...

this gadget. But I am doing some chain piecing and remembered it was somewhere, lol. I did find it though. Here's a video of what it does. I really need to reorganize my sewing room. As soon as the weather stays nice, it WILL get done!!

Current project

Last year was my lucky year with the Block Lotto (see sidebar), I won a few times, so now I am going to turn those winnings into quilts. This one is called Curved Rails, but I think they look like little landscapes. I am making the quilt 6x8 blocks. This one is going to be very cool, it's all batiks. I am putting in the sashing using a pieced method. You can see some really good instructions at VALERIE'S site.

I don't have them all together yet, but you can get the gist of it. Can't you just see little cows and sheep on those hills?? NOT that I am going to appliqué any on, well, maybe I will do 1 or 2, lol.

Thursday

Nothing special going on really, but I hate to go too long without posting, especially after I just cleared out my blog reading list of those who haven't posted for over 6 months, lol. So I thought of a few things to say.

I did finish another little quilt. I have had this top done for several years. I thought I would try custom quilting on my frame, but the Juki throat just isn't enough room to do any areas larger than about 6-8 inches square, and that it when your uptake roll is still real small. Plus, all the starting and stopping. I will do these on the Bernina in the future. But it's cute and now I have a wall hanging for next winter.

The theme for the block lotto was hearts this month. I made 4 and plan to make at least one more for myself in a 12" square for my little table top display from Ackfeld Wire. I love these. I was looking at the Celtic Applique that Carrie (go see her site) was showing on her blog, mine is a cheater. I just traced the whole thing and used wonder under. Looks good though. The picture is a little dark, guess I should have rearranged them. :)

And, after being a nurse for so many years, I developed a love for pens, then they went to all computer charting, but my pen love remains. So, I tried on of the Papermate Inkjoy pens they have been advertising on TV, and they are right, I love this pen!!! I tend to push down too hard when writing, so using the felty ones are like running my fingernails down a blackboard. You should try one of these, SMOOTH!!!

Hope everyone enjoys their day!!

February-What's Hanging??

I thought I would post the things I have hanging around my house for February. I was a few days late, but they are up now.

My most recent finish, a Turning Twenty quilt that was started at a retreat in 2009 I think. I love the colors. It is the largest size I can hang in the living room. Quilted with an all over meander.

MIL gave up another wall for quilt hanging, so I hung this one that was done with my ABC group. We first did a 30s fat quarter swap, then we did a little sew along for the blocks. It is hand quilted. It's been finished for a while, I love the colors in this one too.

This is the February hanging that I did as a BOM from a quilt shop in Medina Ohio when a friend of mine worked there. They sent me the kit each month. I love all of these.

This mini was done as a BOM too, from an internet site. Lots of folks did this one, I can't remember where it came from.

My February table runner from Cotton way. They have the nicest patterns!!

I love all of these, too bad February is a short month, they could hang longer, lol.
