Welcome Carter David Shoemaker

Another new great grandchild. Carter David was born on March 23, 5 lbs, 7 oz, 18 inches long, in Ashland Ohio. I saw him "in person" on Skype. He's beautiful. Now to make another quilt just for him. We're going to go see him and my grandson Cody in a few weeks, have to wait until the weather is better in Ohio!! I'm so looking forward to holding him.  Well, here he is at 4 days old:

And here's a picture of him and his daddy and of him and his mommy:

God, was I ever that young???

A bag

Finally got the closure on my bag. I love this little set. It's going to go to my DGDIL, Sarrah, for her birthday. I have another made but it needs a closure too.

I love the kleenex holder and the little matching change purse. I think she will like them too.

Giveaway at Sew Christine

A nice giveaway of a cool wallet.

A Gadget

I went to Hancock's the other day to get some stuff for a purse, and saw this on sale. What I really wanted was the scissors, but it came with this magnet strip where you can hang your scissors. Mine are usually strewn about, or underneath fabric on my cutting table, so this is working out really nice. It is a really strong magnet too. The red scissors are what came with it.

I made a couple of purses, but I still need to put the button and closure strip on, then I will post pictures.

I am so happy to have my blog list back. I'm sure I missed a few, but I did the best I could. I love checking everyone's work, lots of good ideas out there.

Oh, I am having my second great-grandchild, hopefully today. This one is by my middle grandson, Cody, and it a boy. Carter David. My husband, Dave, thinks they named the baby after him, lol. He's tickled. I have a quilt I made in 2006 that will be perfect for him. Wondering if I should remove the label and make another more personal for the baby? I can't wait to get pictures.

Whew!!

Finally got my blog back to normal with a new background. Most of my favorite blog sites are back on my list, and I have found a couple of new ones too. Still many yet to get back though. I will now copy the list before I make any changes, lol. Thanks to those who sent me their links. I found others I like from your lists.

Have you seen the neat fabric candy bowl on Moda Bakeshop? It is sooo cool. I might have to buy some modge podge and make a couple for gifts. They would be so nice for Easter.

I adjusted to the work routine again after my vacation, and now am looking forward to getting some sewing done this week.

Lost all the blogs I follow

I screwed up and lost all my blogs on my bloglist. If you follow me, please comment so I can get you back on my list. All I wanted was a new background. Sigh.

Spring has sprung, I hope!!!

Finally a few nice days, full of sun and warmth. I hung my towels out to dry for the first time this year. I love my towels real stiff, they feel so good drying off, kind of like an exfoliant. And the smell....

Played golf yesterday, worked in the yard some today too. But on the downside, I have been on vacation for 19 days, and I have to go back to work tomorrow. I know it is really difficult to work 2 whole days a week, but hey, work is work. And 12 hour days are LONG!!

I've been working a little bit on my April table runner, it gonna be a beauty, but have some more machine applique to finish, and some buttons to sew on. Won't be long though.

I just finished catching up on my favorite blogs, and on Running Mama, read about these things called Yurbuds. She liked them so I just had to order some. They're custom fitted for over your iPod buds, and hopefully will help them stay in my weird ears. I'm excited!! I'll let you know how they work.

No pictures this time. Been spending a lot of time watching the NCAA tourney instead of finishing things.

Let's all hope spring stays sprung!!

Gosh, I only have 77 more working days til I retire!!!

Dear Jane

I know that using "Dear Jane" for the name of these blocks is a No No since all the hoopla a couple of years ago from Brenda P, but it is so much easier to call them that.  Anyhow, after making a few blocks recently, I realized that I had made more than I realized. I have 22!!!

I have this box my sister gave me a few years ago, in which I keep all the supplies needed for making DJ blocks. This way, whenever I go on a trip etc, I just grab the box and go. It has everything I need, scissors, fabric, ruler, thread, needles, DJ book, template plastic.

Maybe after I do about 20 more I will have enough for a decent sized wall hanging. We'll see.

I'm thinking about having a giveaway one day soon. I have NEVER won a giveaway, so thought maybe if I have one, it would increase my chances, lol. One never knows.

Could spring be here????

Ahhh. Yesterday was such a beautiful day, full of sunshine and warmth, FINALLY!!! We went to the Davidson River area and went hiking along the river. There was still some snow on the trail in the shady spots, but it was a great time. Weird walking with only a vest in the snow and still being warm.

Spent last week at the beach. One day it rained, so we went to a movie, and I made 2 more Jane Stickel blocks for a grand total of 16, lol.

I had forgotten how quickly these go, even with hand piecing. I will never get them all done so I have decided that whenever I get enough for a decent sized wall hanging, I'm gonna stop there. That way I can pick and choose the ones I want to make, ie: the easy ones, lol. My blocks are 5" unfinished.

I'm in the process of making a couple of purses at the moment, and plan to make a tissue holder and wallet to go with each, like my sister always does. Then I will decide what to do with them.

Today is supposed to be a beautiful day too, so we will go somewhere to hike, I'm sure. We're not used to being off on the weekends, so the increase of people is quite distracting. I much prefer going during the week when all the kids are in school. (Except for those dreaded home schooled ones, they are everywhere ALL the time...)
